Oct. 25, 2023: Over the weekend of October 7th, Bronxville High School’s Class of 1993 celebrated its 30th reunion with a trifecta of events at J.C. Fogarty’s Bar, Siwanoy Country Club, and the BHS bleachers.
From Copenhagen to London and California to New York City, 47 alumni traveled across the globe to reconvene in their hometown and catch up on life events. While social media makes it easier to keep tabs on friends, many alumni hadn’t seen each other in person since 1993.
Class president Anna Pilzer did an outstanding job organizing the reunion, starting with a casual meetup at Fogarty’s Bar on Friday night, which provided a terrific ambiance for conversation on the rooftop patio.
A tour of the Bronxville School took place on Saturday morning. With renovations spanning three decades, both nothing and everything looked the same. Nostalgia and modernity are a powerful combination.
Alums toured the library, gyms, halls, and classrooms and wondered, “Where, exactly, have the last 30 years gone?!” It was agreed that the speed was way too fast. BHS remains both old and new and, as always, absolutely beautiful.
Saturday night brought us to Siwanoy Country Club for a fabulous evening of, as class president Anna Pilzer said, “Libations, chatter, laughter, and cheer.” With a Mediterranean buffet, cash bar, DJ spinning tunes, and a beautiful setting of golf courses and sunsets, Siwanoy delivered a perfect backdrop for photos, conversations, and reconnecting with friends.
“It felt exhilarating to see the amazing turnout,” said Pilzer, “and to think about how many of us have such fond memories of our time together at Bronxville School.”
Out of a class of 74, we celebrated those near, far, and lost. Tables were set up with yearbooks and photos, including beautifully framed pictures of Wendy Ruhm and Ricky Muse, who remain with us in spirit.
On Sunday, those of us able to rise by 10:30 a.m. met at the football field bleachers to dine on bagels and donuts and to have one last chance to chat with friends. Kids joined the festivities, reminding us how much life has changed over the 30 years since graduating high school.
Sunday’s final get-together was a wonderful end to a fabulous weekend, as many of us exchanged photos and contact info on devices beyond our imagination in 1993. The bleachers, luckily, stayed exactly the same.
Again, a big thank you to Anna Pilzer, our friend, classmate, and Chief Alumni Wrangler, who made our 30th reunion possible. We’d be lost without her, and we’re all looking forward to our 40th reunion, which, if time continues to pass this quickly, will apparently be next weekend.
