Oct. 4, 2023: Bronxville High School's homecoming week began on Monday and will continue through Saturday night. Bronco team banners were set up on the front lawn on Monday to mark the start of a week that is full of homecoming festivities and games.
The lights were set up on Chambers Field on Monday afternoon just in time for the evening soccer game. Multiple games are scheduled throughout the week, but unfortunately the football team’s Saturday night game against Blind Brook was cancelled at the start of the season.
The Bronxville-Tuckahoe girls’ swim team competed in their homecoming meet on Tuesday against Pelham. The team competes against some pretty big players and is 2-2 with wins over Tappan Zee (96-74) and Arlington (87-83) and losses to Scarsdale (93-77) and Mamaroneck (95-89).
Key contributors to the team’s success include swimmers Fiona Barr, Mae Rucci, Beth Hogue, Caroline Hardart, and diver Campbell Wolfe. In Division standings, Barr holds the fastest time in the 100 back (1:02.04) and is 2nd in the 200 IM and 100 fly. Teammate Rucci has the fastest time in the 50 free (27.57) and is 2nd in the 100 free; Hogue is 1st in the 100 free (1:01.31) and 2nd in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke. Diver Campbell Wolfe is in first place in the 1M dive and has qualified for sectionals.
On Tuesday, the girls’ field hockey team played its homecoming contest under lights against Hastings and picked up a 4-0 win. Scoring for the Broncos were Lilah Keating (2G), and Emma Yeon (1G, 1A), Izzy Yeon (1G) and Zoe Loader (1A). The Broncos have been on a roll since last Thursday picking up wins against North Rockland (2-1), Pleasantville (2-1), and Harrison (1-0). On Friday, the Broncos (6-3-1) will face a strong Mamaroneck team (7-0-1) on Chambers Field at 4:30.

There are no scheduled turf games tonight, but tomorrow evening the boys’ soccer team will face Albertus Magnus (3-5) at 7:00PM. The soccer team had a slow start to the season but this past week picked up wins over Valhalla (1-0) and the Obama School (7-0). In yesterday’s game against a top-ranked Irvington team (7-1-1), the Broncos trailed at halftime after giving up two goals late in the first half but recovered in the second half to tie it up at 2-2. After two scoreless 10-min overtimes, the game ended in a tie. The Broncos record stands at 4-4-1.
