Dear Bronxville Community,
As the May 16 election day approaches, we're writing with a reminder to please make your voice heard regarding the school district's 2023-24 proposed budget, which represents a net 2.3% increase in the tax levy. We also wanted to clarify a few items.
-The proposed budget includes three new positions: an additional school psychologist, an additional guidance counselor and a K-8 math coach. Nearly all of the cost of these positions will be funded through savings associated with an administrative reorganization.
-The proposed K-8 math coach will focus on the sharing of best practices in teaching and individual teacher coaching in the various grade levels. This model has been utilized by the District to address reading and writing skills through the addition of a literacy coach in the 2018-2019 school year.
In addition, we wanted to clarify that the voter proposition for "at large" elections, if approved by voters, would take effect for Spring 2024, not for this upcoming election.
A detailed copy of the proposed budget may be found here and the “property tax report card” also provides a helpful snapshot. The proposition on changes to the capital reserve relates to providing for our historic building’s five year capital needs, which are detailed here. Please don't hesitate to reach out to either of us, or to any board of education member, with questions.
