Bronxville Rotary Gala A Big Success: See Photos!

By Louis Maggiotto

April 19, 2023: The Bronxville Rotary Club Annual Benefit Cocktail Party raised approximately $35,000 for Neighbors Link Friday evening April 14 at Siwanoy Country Club.  Neighbors Link is a Westchester nonprofit organization with the mission of strengthening whole communities through immigrant empowerment and integration.

After the event, Carola Otero Bracco, Executive Director of Neighbor’s Link, wrote to the Benefit Chair Lou Maggiotto saying: “A very special thank you all the Rotarians for the very warm welcome we received on Friday night.  It was a fabulous event, and the program was so well executed! The families we serve at Neighbors Link will benefit greatly from the very successful fundraising of the evening and I am so grateful to the Bronxville Rotary Foundation for the generous match.”  The Foundation matched the approximate $10,000 pledged at the paddle raise.

Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin also wrote to the Benefit Chair after the event saying “I have to tell you the Rotary holds a very special spot in my heart as I really think it’s one of the sturdy pillars of this community and when I look[ed] in that room, [Friday night] I think of all the fine men and women, the character, the generosity, and the vision. Rotary is an essential part of the fabric of Bronxville and also a room full of my favorite people.”

James Smith, Bronxville Rotary President, spoke at the event about the many good works done by the 1.2 million Rotary members in 167 countries.  Former Bronxville Rotary President Richard Pink introduced the honoree, Westhab CEO, Rich Nightingale, and presented Mr. Nightingale with a desk size engraved obelisk from Bronxville Rotary and proclamations from the County Executive George Latimer, State Senator Shelley Mayer, Assembly person Amy Paulin and County Legislator James Nolan.

Founded to address the affordable housing crisis, Westhab today does employment services, youth programs, affordable housing and gives other support to families to break the cycle of poverty.  In Yonkers, Westhab and Neighbors Link are partners in an educational program for newly arrived persons.
