Pet of the Week: Please Foster a Kitten

By Natalia Thiessen

July 27, 2022: It's peak kitten season! Now more than ever, cats and kittens are being left in shelters and they need your help.

Thousands of kittens are being abandoned to shelters in NY each year. The six month period (March-October) has been named kitten season as this is when the most kittens are abandoned. 70% of the animals in shelters needing fostering are kittens. These adorable kittens definitely deserve some love!

By opening your home to a foster kitten, you can help ensure their survival and find their forever home.

Fostering these adorable kittens typically lasts a few weeks but it can last longer depending on the shelter. The more foster homes and foster parents there are, the more kittens are saved.

It doesn't matter if you choose to take in a litter or one kitten, you are giving them an opportunity to grow and find families of their own. You'll also get to play and cuddle with these adorable fur babies every day!
