Girls’ Lacrosse and Track and Field Wins Class C Section 1 Championship

June 1, 2022: At the Sectional Championships held last Thursday at Valhalla High School, the Bronxville girls’ outdoor track and field team scored 136 points to win the Class C title. Putnam Valley placed second with 60 points, and Irvington placed third with 48.25. The Broncos swept the relays at Sectionals and finished in the top three in 11 of the 14 events. Ava Black placed first in the 1500m run, and Milly Koenig had a first-place finish in the triple jump.

The Section 1 State Qualifier will be held on June 2nd and 3rd in Lagrangeville.

The top three finishers are listed below:

100m dash: Danielle Dragoni, 2nd, 12.89; Milly Koenig, 3rd, 12.98

400m: Donna Napolitano, 2nd, 1:01.00

800m: Hope Hershberg, 2nd, 2:24.12

1500m: Ava Black, 1st, 4:58.20

3000m: Meghan Curran, 3rd, 11:41.43

4x100m relay: Juliet Winiecki, D. Dragoni, D. Napolitano, M. Koenig, 1st, 51.87

4x400m relay: Mai Ly Reinking, Neda Brinster, Maddy Stupart, D. Napolitano, 1st, 4:27.32

4x800m relay: H. Hershberg, Katie O’Hare, Isabella Fenner, Kailee Fino, 1st, 10:40.12

Long Jump: M. Koenig, 2nd, 16-1.25; J. Winiecki, 3rd, 14-9

Triple Jump: M. Koenig, 1st, 33-11.75; J. Winiecki, 3rd, 31-3

Pole Vault: K. O’Hare, 2nd, 7-0

Girls’ Lacrosse Wins Class D Sectional Championship

The girls’ lacrosse team continued its success with a decisive 17-4 win over Albertus Magnus in the Class D Sectional Championships. Catherine Berkery was the Bronco’s top scorer with 4 goals and eight assists, followed by Megan Krestinski (5), Bridget Finley (2), Kiki Tormey (2), Molly Krestinski (2), and Caroline Ircha (2). Olivia Shinsato had seven saves.

Bronxville, the top-ranked Class D team in the state, moves on to the regional finals on Thursday. They will play the winner of Schuylerville (Section 2)/O’Neill (Section 9) at Hendrick Hudson High School at 5:30. The New York State Championships will take place on June 10th and 11th at SUNY Cortland.

Bronxville may be a Class D school, but this team has defeated schools in all classes. The Bronco’s only loss was in overtime to New Canaan. In the May 24th national rankings by US Lacrosse Magazine, Bronxville is ranked No. 9 and New Canaan is ranked No. 5.

Boys’ Lacrosse Loses in Sectional Finals

The boys’ lacrosse team finished the season as the Section 1 Class D runner-up after losing 14-5 in the Sectional Championship to Briarcliff.  Bronxville and Briarcliff are both top-ranked teams in the state.  It was a tough loss for the Bronxville team, who defeated Briarcliff in overtime in its last game of the regular season.  The Broncos finish the season with a 12-6 record.

Boys’ Track and Field Places 3rd at Class C Sectional Championship

The Bronxville boys placed 3rd at the Class C Sectional Championship with 97 points. Valhalla won the meet with 115 points, and Irvington placed second with 99.5. Ellis Goodson placed first in the steeplechase, and Max Dicker took first in the pole vault.

1600m: E. Goodson, 3rd, 4:36.14

400m hurdles: Aidan McBride, 3rd, 1:01.97

4x100m relay: 2nd, 45.91

4x800m relay: 2nd, 8:52.52

Pole Vault: Max Dicker, 1st, 12-0

Golfer Molly Stoltz Qualifies for the New York State Championships

Senior Molly Stoltz is headed to New York State Championship after finishing 7th at the Sectional Championship last Wednesday. The top nine golfers in Section 1 qualify for States. She will be joined by Greydon O’Keefe, who also finished in 7th place at Sectionals to qualify for the State Team.
