May 18, 2022: It's been a few years, but undaunted, the Bronxville PTA is bringing back its classic Memorial Day festivities. "We are most excited to see the community come together in the return of this long-running week of events tradition in Bronxville," says Memorial Day co-chair Lindsay Lavorgna. "This town has such a strong sense of community, and in many ways, it is centered around the school, so it will be wonderful to see everyone come together on the front lawn."

But this series of fundraising events aren’t just for school community members! Events such as the Used Book Sale, a “Cupcake Cafe” bake sale, and food trucks lining Pondfield Road during the PTA’s Country Fair are open to all Bronxville residents!

This year, the traditional race has been branded as the PTA Bundles of Joy Run and is sponsored by the namesake community organization. Click here to sign up.

While the finishing touches are now being put on the events, it wasn't easy bringing back all this fanfare post-pandemic with a brand new team at the helm who had never actually experienced the tradition.

"A challenge initially was envisioning how these events come together, but as you would expect from our amazing community, past chairs and volunteers talked Lindsay Lavorgna and me through all the planning," says Karina Wyllie, Memorial Day co-chair.

"We wanted to carry on the traditions of previous years by sticking to what people enjoy the most," adds Lindsay. There's a famous saying, "Everything needs to change to remain the same." Thank you, pandemic.

And to that end, not only is our Dog Show back; drumroll please, but the gracious Mayor Mary Marvin has agreed to sit at the judge's table once again. Now, if that doesn't say Bronxville is back, we don't know what does.

The parade on Memorial Day will be led by Vicki and Si Ford as Grand Marshals.  The Ford's lived in the Village for over 50 years during all of which they gave service to the community most directly to the Bronxville school and government.  Si was a fire commissioner and Vicki was on the Town Board of Eastchester for over 17 years. They are the definition of selfless volunteerism.

The Parade will include five marching bands, civic organizations, local dignitaries, first responders, and antique cars. Following the Parade, there is a ceremony at the School honoring our servicemen and women.
