Bronxville Celebrates "Spring into The Arts"

By Justine McEnerney

May 11, 2022: The annual “Spring into the Arts” Festival, a Bronxville School student art celebration, resumed after a hiatus due to the pandemic.

The arts festivities kicked off with a live “Open Mic Night” performance on March 24 at the Bronxville Public Library. Student members of the Bronxville Arts Society Club sponsored the event, where fellow high school students performed musical numbers in front of a live audience. A small reception was held afterward to celebrate their extraordinary talents.

Following “Open Mic Night,” the entire Bronxville community was invited to walk around downtown to view selected artworks by Bronxville students placed in the windows of local businesses from March 25 to March 30, 2022. The framed artwork was selected by the Bronxville School Art Department faculty, who then curated the installation. Their intention was for the artwork and the window displays to complement one another, which was successfully executed.

Downtown windows got a lot of attention during the “Art Stroll.” A scavenger hunt, community art project, and prizes were given out to ensure that there were many opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy the student artwork.

Thank you to Candy Rox, who distributed prizes to all the children who completed the Art Scavenger Hunt.

A special thanks to Bronxville School Art teacher Courtney Alan, Bronxville School PTA President, Jennifer Heathwood and the PTA Art Council for organizing the event.

Volunteers included:

PTA Art Council Tri Chairs: Lyndal Vermette, Justine McEnerney and Bridget Lockwood

Parent Volunteers: Kristin Woolery Laura Busker Ashley Gramins Kelly Fezza Leslie Kao Vickery Barnett Monica Malpass

It was wonderful to see the community come out to support the Bronxville School students’ talents and enjoy downtown in the spring. We look forward to next year’s celebration.
