Track and Field

The track and field teams competed at the Section 1 State Qualifiers this past weekend and will send 11 Broncos to the New York State Championships. The girls’ 4x400m relay team, Milly Koenig, Danielle Dragoni, Donna Napolitano, and Caroline Ircha, placed second at the State Qualifiers finishing in a 4:06.76, and the 4x800m relay team, Hope Hershberg, Maddy Williams, Maddy Stupart and Ava Black, also placed second in 9:32.75. The qualifying standard is 4:06.94 for the 4x400m relay and 9:36.24 for the 4x800m relay.

Ellis Goodson was invited to compete in the 1000m leg of the intersectional relay after setting a two second personal best at the State Qualifiers (2:37.01). The intersectional medley relay (300m, 600m,1000m and 1600m) features Section 1 runners who just missed qualifying for states. Goodson and runners from three other Section 1 schools will make up this medley.

In field events, Luke Stephens qualified for states with a 5’8” high jump, tying his personal best, and Max Dicker qualified with a lifetime best and new school record for the pole vault (12’).
