Feb. 23, 2022: The regular winter season has ended, and the Broncos are in the midst of post-season games and meets. Below is a look at how each team has fared thus far.
Track and Field
The track and field teams competed at the Section 1 State Qualifiers this past weekend and will send 11 Broncos to the New York State Championships. The girls’ 4x400m relay team, Milly Koenig, Danielle Dragoni, Donna Napolitano, and Caroline Ircha, placed second at the State Qualifiers finishing in a 4:06.76, and the 4x800m relay team, Hope Hershberg, Maddy Williams, Maddy Stupart and Ava Black, also placed second in 9:32.75. The qualifying standard is 4:06.94 for the 4x400m relay and 9:36.24 for the 4x800m relay.
Ellis Goodson was invited to compete in the 1000m leg of the intersectional relay after setting a two second personal best at the State Qualifiers (2:37.01). The intersectional medley relay (300m, 600m,1000m and 1600m) features Section 1 runners who just missed qualifying for states. Goodson and runners from three other Section 1 schools will make up this medley.
In field events, Luke Stephens qualified for states with a 5’8” high jump, tying his personal best, and Max Dicker qualified with a lifetime best and new school record for the pole vault (12’).

The New York State Championships will take place on March 5th at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Staten Island.
Basketball
The Bronxville boys’ basketball team received the No. 1 seed in Class B for the first time since 1982. The 17-4 Broncos defeated Pawling 73-31 last Saturday and will face No. 9 Putnam Valley in the quarterfinals at Bronxville on Friday at 5PM.
In the game against Pawling, Chris Kelty led the team with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Sean McGrath and Alec Mercer scored 14 and 12 respectively.

The top four seeded teams are No. 1 Bronxville, No. 2 Briarcliff, No. 3 Hastings and No. 4 Edgemont. If the Broncos are successful on Friday, they will play in the semifinals on March 2nd. The sectional final game is scheduled for March 5th.
The girls’ basketball team received the No. 4 seed in the sectional playoffs and defeated No. 13 North Salem 47-38 yesterday. They will face the winner of No. 5 Putnam Valley/No. 12 Dobbs Ferry on Saturday at home. The top seeds are No. 1 Hastings, No. 2 Irvington, No. 3 Rye Neck, and No. 4 Bronxville.

Skiing
Fifty-nine skiers from across Section 1 convened at Hunter Mountain on February 16th to compete in the Section 1 Championships. Eight Bronxville skiers who qualified for sectionals skied in both the slalom and giant slalom events.

The eight Bronxville skiers who participated in the event were Ray Thompson, Paul Hodulik, Lucy Sevin, Isa Washburn, Brooke Thompson, Zoe Loader, Colette Ungvary, and Audrey Spiegel. Lucy Sevin had the top finish for the Broncos, placing 12th in the giant slalom in 38.86 and 12th in the slalom in 38.56. Isa Washburn placed 17th in the giant slalom (39.55). Ray Thompson placed 22th in the GS in a time of 39.70.
Eastchester-Tuckahoe-Bronxville-Edgemont ("ETBE") Ice Hockey
The Eastchester-Tuckahoe-Bronxville-Edgemont Ice Hockey team ("ETBE") lost 8-2 to rival Mamaroneck in the first round of playoffs. The team finished the season with an 11-7-1 record.
