Pet of the Week: Hae is a Timid Pup Seeking a Forever Home

By Natalia Thiessen-Rodriguez and Allison Roesser

Meet Hayley! Hayley, nicknamed Hae, is a gentle 22-pound Jindo girl in need of a loving and patient home.

This sweet pup was brought to America from South Korea, where she survived the shelter system. When she arrived in the United States, she was very timid. Sadly like most timid dogs, she was moved to the top of the euthanasia list.

Haylee was euthanized, but miraculously, it didn’t take. This girl is a fighter and was not ready to go.

The shelter then moved her to a small dog house on the side of the building, where she became scared and emaciated and had no interaction with other dogs.

In her new home, Hayley will need a lot of time and patience to come out of her shell. She will most likely stay in her crate in the beginning when people are around and while she is learning to trust.

Fortunately, she is a very clever pup and learns patterns and routines quickly. Once she feels comfortable with you, she will greet you with endless kisses and a wagging tail. This smart little lady only wants to please. She is very treat motivated and has shown to be a quick learner.

Initially, Hayley will rarely deviate from her safe area in the crate, but she will come out to eat, drink, and use her wee pads. She is a super clean girl and is yet to have an accident. In time Hayley will learn to trust enough to be walked on a leash, and it is believed she is eager to learn to be potty trained outside.

It is important to note that Hayley does not have a mean bone in her body. She has never shown a single ounce of aggression. Although she may be timid and fearful, she is as gentle as they come. Hayley gets along very well with other dogs and sometimes comes out to play with them. It seems that having another dog around would greatly benefit her because she becomes more comfortable and relaxed around other dogs. Dogs seem to provide her with the support systems she needs and craves. See a video of her here: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/hayley-51564905/pa/cresco/twenty-paws-rescue-pa850/

It is now time for Hayley to move to her forever home. It will take a special owner who has the patience to let her evolve on her own schedule. But there is no doubt that this amazing survivor will bring years of happiness and joy to the person or family willing to give her a chance.
