Jan. 5, 2021: The Bronxville sports teams had a successful fall season, and individual athletes are still being recognized for their accomplishments. In December, The Journal News/lohud recognized fourteen Bronxville athletes as Westchester/Putnam All-Stars, and six Broncos were named to the First Team. Bronxville coaches also received recognition. Girls’ soccer coach, Don Cupertino, was named the Class B State Coach of the Year, and girls’ cross country coach, Keina Samuels, was named Class C Coach of the Year.

All four captains from the Class B State Championship girls’ soccer team were recognized as All-Stars. Forward Lily Jebejian and goalkeeper Milly Koenig were named to the First Team, Alice Vranka was named to the Second Team, and Kiki Tormey received honorable mention. These four seniors, who were big contributors to the state championship, were also awarded All-State honors.
In her first season as head coach of the girls’ cross country team, Coach Samuels led a young Bronco team to the Class C State Championship, the Broncos’ first state title since 2014. Senior Ava Black and freshman Maddy Williams were named to lohud’s First Team, freshman Lux Burgin was named to the Second Team, and junior Katie O’Hare was given honorable mention recognition.

Olivia and Natalie Gunther received multiple awards for the field hockey team. Olivia, a midfielder who received All-State recognition, was named to lohud’s Second All-Star Team, and twin sister Natalie was given honorable mention recognition. Both girls were also chosen to be part of the Golden Dozen, an award that recognizes the top twelve field hockey players in Section 1 for their athletic, academic and extracurricular accomplishments.
The Bronxville football team’s quarterback, Conor O’Neil, was named to lohud’s First All-Star Team. O’Neil scored 16 touchdowns while rushing for just over 1000 yards and passed for 743 yards scoring six touchdowns. Teammate Tommy Garofalo, who played running back for the Broncos, was on the honorable mention list.
For the boys’ soccer team, junior midfielder Will Redman, who received All-State recognition, was named to lohud’s Second Team and junior Albert van Ness received honorable mention.
Finally, the girls’ tennis team had a young talented player on lohud’s All-Star list. Sophomore Victoria McEnroe joined the Bronxville girls’ tennis team this year and advanced all the way to the round of 16 in the state tournament. McEnroe was named to lohud’s first team.
