Letter to the Community in Support of Jessie Slater for Fire Commissioner

To Our Fellow Villagers,

Dec. 8, 2021: We urge you to join us in support of Jessie Slater for Fire Commissioner representing the Town of Eastchester and the Villages of Tuckahoe and Bronxville.

Jessie has the skill set necessary to negotiate contracts tackling a district budget currently at 19 million dollars, a budget bigger than that of the Village of Tuckahoe and likewise the Village of Bronxville. Her undergraduate degree in business and an MBA not only help her in her current job in healthcare but will be a needed analytical addition to the board, adding someone with 10 years of budget management experience.

Ms. Slater would also be the first female town resident ever to be elected a Fire Commissioner, bringing a new and different perspective in addition to her ability to control our taxes while preserving our safety needs. With an overtime cost of $1.3 million so far in 2021, we need her to be an advocate for fiscal responsibility.

We are so fortunate to have a bright, articulate, thoughtful and strong mother of two stepping up to serve. She has the energy, experience and desire to bring an important new voice to the Fire Board. Jesse Slater is exactly what we need at this moment in time.

We can thank her for stepping up by getting out the vote for her on December 14.

With regards,

Mayor Mary Marvin

Deputy Mayor Robert Underhill

Trustee Helen Knapp

Trustee William Fredericks

Trustee Mary Taylor Behrens

Voting is Tuesday, December 14 for all Villagers at Bronxville Village Hall.

Note the voting hours are only from 2pm to 9pm.
