Oct. 29, 2021: Wednesday was a very special day! After a two year wait due to COVID, the Bronxville School Mentoring Committee was able to take approximately 30 students from the Bronxville Elementary, Middle and High Schools to visit the Giving Garden.
They were so lucky to have Joan Golan of the Green Committee meet with them and discuss the history of and services provided by the Giving Garden. Similar to the Mentoring Committee, the Giving Garden assists the CSA Soup Kitchen as well as other organizations. The students were able to plant tulips in a flowerpot and take them home to grow thanks to the PTA! They look forward to the Spring when they will be able to plant in the Giving Garden itself.
The Bronxville School Mentoring Committee’s mission is to raise funds for the CSA Soup kitchen which is achieved by making items to sell at school games and functions and then donating the proceeds.
This committee has been active since 2016 as a subcommittee of Character and Community Committee at the Bronxville School. Original and founding members Preston Maze and Olivia Prior, who are now Bronxville High School seniors, were in Middle School at its inception. Many students have been with the Committee for years and will continue to do great things for our community.
