Junior League of Bronxville and Yonkers Partners in Education Support College-Bound Yonkers Students

By Susan Schwartz, Senior Director, Communications, Yonkers Partners in Education

June 30, 2021: For the eighth consecutive year, the Junior League of Bronxville (JLB) has partnered with Yonkers Partners in Education (YPIE) to celebrate the accomplishments of Yonkers high school students and provide essential supplies as they embark on their college journeys.

JLB is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The Dorm Drive is one of many cutting edge programs JLB has created to improve the lives of women, children, families, and the elderly in our community.

YPIE partners with students across the Yonkers Public Schools to ensure that hundreds of low income, but high-promise students are prepared for college success.  Many of these students lack the financial resources to purchase basic dorm essentials.

At this year's event held at the YPIE College Zone in downtown Yonkers, YPIE college bound Scholars received beautiful rolling luggage, a bag of thoughtful gifts, and gift cards to Bed, Bath, and Beyond so they can stock up on their dorm supplies. Thanks to JLB, these students will step onto campus this fall with the dorm room items they need.

This year's selected recipients, many the first in their families to attend college, will be attending Binghamton University, New York University, Fisk University, Northeastern University and University at Buffalo, among others.

YPIE is very grateful to JLB for helping us to celebrate the impressive accomplishments of our YPIE students and their exciting paths to college success.
