Concordia Conservatory Plays On: Open House on June 13

June 2, 2021: Concordia Conservatory announces 2021-22 school year offerings and presents an open house/press event on Sunday, June 13 from 3:30–5:00 pm. The Conservatory, a community music school, is located at 176 White Plains Road, Bronxville, New York. The Open House will include student and faculty performances, tours of the school, and an opportunity to meet and mingle with faculty, staff and students. The event is free and open to the public.

Summer 2021 begins Monday, June 15 and the 2021-22 school year starting Monday, September 13.

Under the supervision of Concordia Conservatory Executive Director Kathleen Suss since 1997, Concordia Conservatory has offered music programs for early childhood, youth and adult students and audiences from the Southern Westchester community and beyond.  Concordia Conservatory’s mission is to inspire, instruct, and enrich lives through music, offering excellence in education and performance. The Conservatory is an accredited member of the National Guild of Community Arts Educators and a founding member of the Royal Conservatory Program.

The Conservatory brings music to all people regardless of age, ability, ethnicity or financial situation, and serves as a music education resource for Westchester and Fairfield Counties.  Staffed with a highly accomplished faculty of teaching and performing artists, offerings include private music instruction in all instruments including voice, group and chamber music, music theory, ear-training, composition and song writing, musical theatre classes, an annual tuition-free musical theatre production, early childhood music classes, summer camps, concert series, and an Honors Academy (pre-college) program.  Concordia Conservatory's exemplary programs embrace vitality and the development of artistry at every age, phase, and level, and are dedicated to helping each student realize his or her full potential. The diverse faculty of 40 and student population enrollment of 1,200 students of all ages represent over 20 countries.

The Conservatory also brings musical performances to enrich the community’s cultural life.  Community programs include the Hoch Chamber Music Series, the Conservatory’s annual tuition-free Holiday Community Musical for performers and production crew from ages 8 to 18, Concerts at the OSilas, the UNIQUE Series for special learners and the Musical Adventures Family Series.

The Conservatory administers scholarship and music outreach in the community in Westchester and Fairfield Counties to various populations in the communities of which they serve.

Concordia Conservatory Stamford, at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Stamford, CT, opened in 2019, offering private instruction.  Arts for Healing, a music therapy and instruction program for students with special needs came under the umbrella of Concordia Conservatory that year, and offers music and art therapy both privately and in group classes. Concordia Conservatory currently serves 400 students from age 3 - 18 (elementary, middle and high school) through its music and art therapy services in the Stamford, Norwalk and Tuckahoe Public School Districts, providing weekly music and art therapy classes throughout the academic year.
