Apr. 7, 2021: OSilas Gallery is pleased to present Portraits of Immigrants: Unknown Faces and Untold Stories by Betsy Ashton. The exhibit is on view from April 6 to May 8, 2021. 

Portraits of Immigrants features 17 oil paintings of immigrants Ashton has interviewed and painted over the last four years. Through Ashton's paintings and the stories that accompany each work, viewers get to know some of the wonderful people who call New York City home and the grit and determination that propelled their journeys to build a happy and productive life in America.

Ashton was a broadcast journalist for nearly 20 years before she turned her attention back to her first love, painting. For the last thirteen years, Ashton has supported her studio by painting commissioned oil paintings of wealthy, accomplished business and nonprofit leaders and their families. Her efforts to shine a light on people living through the American immigrant experience culminate in Portraits of Immigrants.

HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS. The health and safety of our visitors, students, and staff are our priority. Visitors will be required to check-in with the security desk in the lobby of the library building where the Gallery is located. Visitors will be asked to answer a brief questionnaire, have a temperature check, and wear face masks while on campus, including while in the Gallery. In addition, no more than 16 visitors will be permitted in the Gallery at one time, and all visitors are asked to keep 6' social distance. OSilas Gallery is located in the Donald A. Krenz Academic Center on the second level of Scheele Memorial Library on Concordia College's campus, 171 White Plains Road, Bronxville, New York. Exhibitions and opening receptions are free and open to public.
