Bronxville Police Blotter: March 18 to March 25, 2021

By Bronxville Police Department

April 1, 2021: The following entries are from the Bronxville police blotter:

March 16, 2021, 11:45 PM, Dusenberry Rd: Officers were called to a residence after a report of a loud party. The officers determined that the party holders were the newly elected Village board members and their campaign staff who were celebrating their hard fought and very closely contested victories earlier that evening. The electees agreed to restrain their exuberance.

March 18, 2021, 1:01 PM, Pondfield Road: An officer was called to mediate an argument that had broken out between two Bronxville residents over a parking space. One resident claimed the other stole the space which she had been waiting for. The officer had the two people do rock, paper, scissors to resolve the dispute. Rock beat scissors.

March 19, 2021, 2:37, Pondfield Road: A Bronxville man was given a ticket for excessive honking while stopped at a light. When questioned as to why he would engage in such conduct, the man said the car in front of him had a bumper sticker saying “ Honk If You Love the Jets”. The officer responded that he found that explanation very hard to believe considering their past record.

March 20, 2021, 10:16, Pondfield Road: An officer was called to the CVS after a report of a man leaving without paying. The office was able to track the man down and learned that he had attempted to pay multiple times at the self-checkout, but it kept malfunctioning. The officer agreed that most self-checkouts are incredibly annoying to use and sent the man on his way with a warning.

March 21, 2021, 7:24 PM, Valley Road: An officer was called to a residence after a report that someone was using a leaf blower outside in violation of village code which prohibits the use of loud mechanical devices after 4:00 PM. The female resident explained that she was very late for a dinner party and needed to dry her hair quickly. The officer issued a ticket for disturbing the peace and advised her to bring the leaf blower inside.

March 22, 2021, 3:37 PM, Kraft Ave.: A resident of Yonkers was pulled over on White Plains Rd when the license plate reader revealed that that man was operating an unregistered, uninsured car with an expired license and 752 unpaid parking tickets. Upon further investigation the officer discovered that there was an outstanding bench warrant for the individual who was then taken into custody and placed in the Bronxville Village jail awaiting trial. Visitation hours are 10 AM-2 PM Monday through Friday.

March 23, 2021, 11:18 PM, Sagamore Road: An officer responded to a report of a burglary in the apartment of a single male resident. According to the man the burglary must have taken place while he was at work. No sign of forced entry. It appeared that the only property taken was several closets of female lingerie. The man declined to submit a formal police report.

March 24, 2021, 10:42 PM, Summit Ave.: An officer responded to a call about a group of teenagers hallooing and yelling. Upon arriving on the scene the officer issued citations to six individuals. A parent of one of the teens who lived nearby came over to ask why the kids had been given citations. The officer explained that recently while researching the early history of Bronxville, Mayor Marvin had discovered an ordinance prohibiting hallooing and yelling after dark. Mayor Marvin directed the village police to start enforcing this ordinance to preserve the peaceful character of Bronxville and to discourage ruffians and hooligans from taking up residence.

March 25, 2021, 7:11 AM, Woodland Ave. A resident reported that a man was loitering in front of her house for no apparent reason. An officer arrived and questioned the man who said he was walking into town. The same man was later seen dawdling on Hawthorne, lollygagging on Tanglewylde, and dillydallying on Park.

And.....HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY (a day early)!
