Vaccination Update

On February 15, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency would establish four additional community-based vaccination sites in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, and Yonkers.  These four major vaccination sites outside of New York City will vaccinate approximately 1,000 New Yorkers each day beginning the first week of March, and appointments will be initially reserved for members of the community in which the sites are located. The goal is to improve vaccine access in socially vulnerable communities.  The site in Yonkers is at 2 Quincy Place.

The Westchester County website shows the vaccine allocation to locations in Westchester.  The allocation for the most recent week was 7,200 doses.  This seems to be well below the demand as vaccination appointments are difficult to secure. MyhometownBronxville spoke with one representative on the NY State Vaccination hotline who indicated that they are fully booked through the middle of April.  The only way to secure a vaccine through them is if there is a cancellation.

Statewide

On February 22, 2021, Governor Cuomo reported that the infection rate in New York is "the lowest we've seen in three months." As a result, movie theaters in that state are permitted to reopen March 5 at 25 percent capacity, with no more than 50 people per screen at a time.

The Governor also said that beginning on March 15, weddings and catered events can resume statewide. Venues are restricted to 50 percent capacity, with no more than 150 people per event. All attendees and patrons must be tested prior to the event. Mask wearing and other safety protocols will be required.
