New Jewelry Store Talisa Opens in Bronxville

By Susan Miele

Feb. 10, 2021: Despite the struggles that retail has faced in the COVID-19 era, there have been several shop openings here in Bronxville in the past year. In addition to BXVL Coffeehouse at Station Plaza and Cookies N’ Cream on Park Place, Talisa is now open on Pondfield Road.

Taking over the space previously occupied by the Art & Frame Studio (next door to Mano A Mano), owners Lisa Silverstein and her husband Tal Kerret have revamped and brightened the interior to showcase their fine and customized jewelry.

The shop’s name, Talisa, is a hybrid of the couple’s first names.

In-store merchandise includes pure gold, sterling silver, rose gold, and some vermeil, while the online shop concentrates on personalized items and beaded jewelry, which are generally at a lower price point.  Silverstein noted that the most meaningful pieces in her own collection are those engraved with the names or initials of her three children.

Talisa began as an e-commerce venture in 2018.  It currently sells in eight countries and has plans to launch in five more countries this year, according to Silverstein.

The owners reside in Tribeca near the office of their family real-estate business, Silverstein Properties. After exploring towns in Westchester for a brick-and-mortar presence, they chose Bronxville because of its quaintness, mix of businesses, scale, and walkability. “It’s one of the quaintest, most charming towns in Westchester,” Silverstein remarked. “We measured the foot traffic in all the other towns in Westchester, and Bronxville is the best. You walk through once and get it.”

Though Silverstein and Kerret don’t have a retail background, their daughter, a Westchester resident, previously designed jewelry and managed a jewelry store in Manhattan.

Winter hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 am-5:00 pm. Store hours are expected to expand in the spring and summer. Silverstein hopes to have a grand-opening event later this year.
