Oct. 28, 2020: Like people all over the country, people in Bronxville and nearby towns turned out in droves for the start of early voting on October 24, 2020.

At the Eastchester Public Library, the closest polling location to Bronxville, people waited in lines for up to three hours this past Saturday and Sunday and in long lines yesterday, but no one seemed to mind. As one voter said, "I'll be here as long as it takes."  Another said cheerfully, "the line moves fast." Some voters brought folding chairs, and many came in small family groups such as mother and daughter and husband and wife. Everyone waited patiently.

MyhometownBronxville spoke with a number of voters. They were from Eastchester, Scarsdale, Bronxville, Mount Vernon, and New Rochelle. Each had different reasons for voting early.

One talked about not having to come on a workday. Many spoke about wanting to make sure to get their vote in and counted. As one voter said after casting his ballot, "I know my vote will be counted, and that is what matters."

Another voter was concerned that her polling place would be swarmed on Election Day, and she wouldn't get to cast her ballot. Another first-time voter said that he didn't vote in 2016 and regretted it and wanted to make sure he voted this year. And then one other said that he had "voted in every election since McGovern."

Some people proudly announced who they voted for while others kept their votes closer to the vest.

One thing for sure, Americans are coming out in huge numbers to vote this year.
