Exciting New Fall Semester Begins at the Bronxville Adult School

By Priscilla Toomey

Sep. 2, 2020: Registration is now open for the Bronxville Adult School's 78th program year, including over 100 Virtual and In-Person classes during September and October.

Expand your horizons with a fascinating lecture. New this semester is "History Happy Hour" on three Wednesdays: Joan of Arc, Before Romeo and Juliet, There was Abelard and Heloise, and Women in Courtly Love.

Other lectures include The White Lie: Color in Antiquity; Hitchcock and Suspense: A Filmmaker Popular and Profound; and Beethoven and the Beatles.

Business & Money Matters classes include some new classes which are particularly relevant during the pandemic: Job Search: 2020; Intro to E-Commerce for Small Business; Retirement Income Planning, and Preserving Family Assets.

With so many of us working from home these days, being tech savvy has taken on increased importance, and the Bronxville Adult School has classes specifically designed to help you get there. They include: Essential Computer Skills for the Workplace, with one course on Computer and MS Word Basics and another on MS Excel Basics; Python Programming and Tech Solutions for Your Home Office.

For just plain fun, there is Introduction to Tarot Cards and the ever-popular bridge. Language classes include French, Italian, German, and Spanish, each for several levels of ability.

Cooking classes include: Easy & Simple Plant-Based Tex-Mex Recipes and Classic Desserts De-Mystified. There are many art classes for all levels and genres, as well as theater, singing, and writing classes.

We are probably all sitting too much these days, so there are many exercise classes to get us moving, some of them in person, like FitWalk to Wellness. Belly Dance, Zumba, Buff Bones, and Yoga are among the other offerings. There are also sports classes offered in person, including Golf, Tennis, and Pickleball at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester.

The classes for Personal Growth & Lifestyle include the immensely popular and free Guided Meditation Practice, along with Making Sense of Your Dreams, Virtual Real Estate: What You Need to Know, Herbal Remedies, Home Organization, and Gardening.

There is something for everyone, and these classes are a great way to increase your knowledge, skills, or just have a great time!
