Bronxville Athletes Honored at 2017 Fall Sports Awards Evening PDF Print Email

By S. Quinn DeJoy and J. Murrer

Nov. 29, 2017:  At the sports awards evening held on November 20, Bronco athletes were honored for their athletic accomplishments. Forty-eight Bronxville athletes were given All-League awards and eleven were honored with All-Section recognition. In addition, many received individual coaches’ awards.

Athletic Council presidents Mac Crawford and Caroline Kirby, who hosted the evening, introduced the teams and their coaches and summarized the accomplishments of the Bronco fall teams. The field hockey, girls’ cross country, girls’ tennis, and boys’ and girls’ soccer teams won their respective league championships, and two teams, field hockey and girls’ cross country, were the Class C Section 1 champions. Field hockey won sectionals for the fourth straight year, and the girls’ cross country team was named the sectional champ for the twenty-first consecutive year.

While varsity games were still held at Chambers Field, the opening of the newly turfed Hayes Field had a positive impact on the scheduling of practices, and athletic director Karen Peterson thanked the community for the Hayes Field space.

For a complete list of award recipients, see the list below.
