Sarah Lawrence Professors Ranked Highest by Students in Princeton Review Survey PDF Print Email

alt

By Judith Schwartzstein, Vice President for Publicity, Sarah Lawrence College

Sep. 13, 2017:  Sarah Lawrence College is pleased to announce that it has been named by The Princeton Review as first among colleges listed in The 382 Best Colleges for "Professors Get High Marks." The top ranking in this category recognizes the high regard the college's students hold for their professors.

With one of the lowest student-to-teacher ratios (9:1) in the country, Sarah Lawrence's academic model is centered on close work with faculty. The college's hallmark system of teaching pairs small seminar classes with rigorous undergraduate research conducted directly with faculty in the tradition of England's Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Last year, Sarah Lawrence was recognized by The Princeton Review as number one for "Best Classroom Experience."

"Our selections [of colleges for the guide] are primarily based on our surveys of administrators at several hundred four-year colleges," says The Princeton Review editor-in-chief and author of The Best 382 CollegesRobert Franek. "Most importantly, we look at valuable feedback we get from each school's customers--our surveys of students attending them."

The Best 382 Colleges (Penguin Random House/Princeton Review) is available at bookstores and online.

About The Best 382 Colleges

The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges from 1 to 382 in any category. Instead, it uses students' ratings of their schools to compile 62 ranking lists of top 20 colleges in the book in various categories. The lists in this edition are entirely based on The Princeton Review's survey of 137,000 students (358 per campus on average) attending the colleges. The 80-question survey asks students to rate their schools on several topics and report on their campus experiences at them. Topics range from their assessments of their professors as teachers to opinions about their school's career services. Bronxville Public Library

Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children.  All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
