August 11, 2010: Harriet Huber, a longtime resident of Bronxville and an active leader of the Mamaroneck-based Cancer Support Team (CST), died peacefully on Sunday, August 8. She is the widow of the late Bronxville physician, Dr. Thomas Tuttle.

A memorial service and interment in the Columbarium will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010, at 11:00 AM at The Reformed Church of Bronxville.

Harriet was honored for her contributions of time and energy to the CST at its annual spring gala in 2009, held at the New York Botanical Gardens. At the time, RuthAnn Brazill, one of the co-chairs of the event, said of Harriet, "She is an amazing inspiration to all of us."

In 1998, Harriet was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She called the CST and thus began a 10-year relationship. In 2003, she joined the board of directors as a way to give back the support the Team had given her and other patients. She also served as a co-chair of the Women's Health Luncheon in 2003 and of the annual Gala in 2006.

"The Cancer Support Team," explained Harriet at the time, "has been instrumental in teaching patients there is life with cancer. The illness can be isolating and the Team brings patients back into the community by its skilled care and compassionate presence."

She went on to say, "Their example helped lead me to a second life of chaplaincy, advocacy, and mentoring."
