Oct. 28, 2015: Approximately 1,400 people convened at the Immaculate Conception School field in Tuckahoe for the Junior League of Bronxville's (JLB) sixth annual Touch-A-Truck event, which was held on September 26. The fundraising event raised a new record high of over $18,000, which will be used to support the JLB's vision to fight hunger and promote proper nutrition within its service area of Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Tuckahoe, and Yonkers.
New to the event this year was the "Curto's Canned-Goods Challenge," sponsored by Curto's Appliances. The JLB collected 501 canned goods at Touch-A-Truck, and Curto's Appliances matched $1 for each item, up to $500, and will be making a donation to the JLB in recognition of its voluntarism in the community.
Children enjoyed the festivities as they got to climb inside an ambulance, sit in the driver's seat of a school bus, walk through an empty moving truck, and even go inside a helicopter, as well as explore other vehicles. Entertainment was provided throughout the day by Gymboree Play & Music of Scarsdale, Songs for Seeds of Scarsdale, Musical Munchkins, and The Nature of Things. Notable guests at the event included Lisa Salvadorini of News 12 Westchester.
Sheridan Denfeld, JLB president, said, "The JLB is exceptionally grateful for the generous and continued support provided by our Harvester of Hope Sponsors, Curto's Appliances, Julia B. Fee/Sotheby's International Realty, K. Salkey Photography, PCT Contracting, People's United Bank, and Pepe Auto Group. Their assistance allows the JLB to fulfill our vision of stamping out hunger in Southern Westchester."
Additionally, the JLB would like to thank all vendors and exhibitors for participating in Touch-A-Truck this year and would like to give special thanks to PCT Contracting, which powered the event; brought vehicles including a dump truck, a flatbed tow truck, and a gator vehicle; and provided a monster truck bounce house, cotton candy, and t-shirts for the kids!

Organized in 1982, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) is a not-for-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.
