Bronxville Rotary Club to Honor Dr. David Quattrone Saturday, April 29

Apr. 5, 2017: The Bronxville Rotary Club is delighted to announce it will recognize Dr. David Quattrone, Superintendent of the Bronxville Schools for his exceptional service to the community at their Annual Dinner and Auction, Saturday, April 29, 6:00pm at Siwanoy Country Club. Proceeds from this event will benefit YearUp and Destination: College.
A school superintendent for the past 26 years, Dr. Quattrone has guided the Bronxville School District for the past twelve years. Under his leadership the district has remained consistently among the top schools in the country in terms of student accomplishments, educational innovations and faculty development. In spite of the challenges from two major flooding incidents, the 2008 recession, and the state-mandated maximum two percent tax levy increase, Quattrone has managed to keep the focus on teaching and learning. His many accomplishments include developing a strong administrative team and greater clarity in the teacher evaluation process, advances in technology, completion of the auditorium project, and consistent community support.
In keeping with David Quattrone’s life’s work, the net proceeds from the Rotary’s annual benefit will be shared with two educational initiatives: Destination College and YearUp. Destination College is a 501 © (3) nonprofit organization providing educational services to Mount Vernon High School. This organization is particularly meaningful to Dr. Quattrone as Bronxville High School students volunteer as peer tutors providing assistance with the use of graphing calculators and helping students prepare for the Algebra Regents Exam. The program has produced outstanding results not only with students’ passing scores, but also building positive relationships.
YearUP is a national organization empowering low-income young adults the skills and opportunity to enter the mainstream economy. The YearUp program includes six months of classroom training and six months as an intern with one of YearUp’s 250 partner companies. Eighty-five percent of YearUp graduates are employed or enrolled in postsecondary education within four months of completing the program. The Bronxville Rotary seeks to provide low-income young adults in our immediate area with this life-changing opportunity by connecting students from Yonkers Partners in Education with YearUp.
The Bronxville Rotary is part of Rotary International, an organization with 1.2 million members whose mission is to come together to create positive and lasting change in our communities and around the world. Bronxville Beautification Council
Organized in 1982, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) is a not-for-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. The mission of the BBC is to enhance and maintain the natural and man-made beauty of the village of Bronxville, with an emphasis on the downtown business district.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

Bronxville Green Committee
The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.

Bronxville Boy Scouts
The village of Bronxville has a long tradition of scouting. “The troops and packs of Bronxville have maintained the finest scouting organizations and have taught the boys of the Bronxville area to be leaders and outstanding members of the local, national and global communities.”

Bronxville Girls Scouts
The Girls Scouts is “the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world.” In Girl Scouts, “girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together.
