Dear Friends and Neighbors,
On Tuesday, November 4th, the voters of Bronxville can make a common-sense choice. A Bronxville-specific proposition will appear on the ballot asking whether we should change the timing of our annual Village elections from March to November — and we, the undersigned, vote Yes.
Right now, our Village elections each March are not serving Bronxville well. Turnout is often extremely low — sometimes fewer than 400 voters decide important local matters. Some have argued that holding elections in March keeps the focus on Bronxville issues, but in truth, there’s nothing special about such limited participation. Our community deserves elections that reflect the voices of all residents. We do not believe that by moving elections from March that voters in Bronxville will lose focus on local issues, as we are a community capable of differentiating between local, state and federal matters and choosing what’s best for Bronxville.
By moving Village elections to November, we can make voting easier for everyone.
November elections will mean:
-Expanded access to voting and greater community engagement in local decisions
-Reducing the number of times people are asked to go to the polls each year
-Nine days of early voting each election, giving busy residents more choice and flexibility
-Cost savings for the County
-Alignment with most other Westchester villages, while still ensuring that Bronxville voters choose the candidates who best represent our community
Some of us spent time this summer working to get this proposal on the ballot, and we were proud to have collected signatures from Republicans, Democrats and Independents, representing voters in all parts of the village and across the political spectrum.
A Yes vote is the common-sense choice — one that strengthens our local democracy and encourages every Bronxville voice to be heard.
We’re looking forward to flipping the ballot (the proposition is on the back of the ballot) and voting Yes on this important proposition — and we hope you will join us in making Bronxville stronger, fairer, and more engaged.
Yours sincerely,

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.
While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.
Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.
The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
