Wednesday, October 12

Thursday, October 13:  The Bronxville Public Library Board of Trustees will have a regular meeting at 7:00 pm in the library. For more information, go to www.bronxvillelibrary.org or call 914-337-7680.

Friday, October 14:  Authors Jimmie C. Holland, MD, and Mindy Greenstein, PhD, will speak at the 18th annual Gayle K. Lee Health Awareness Luncheon, which will be held from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm at the Westchester Country Club in Rye. The event is sponsored by the Cancer Support Team. Tickets are $125. Saturday, October 15:  The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College will welcome the live reading series 650 to its campus for a staged event at the Heimbold Visual Arts Center, 935 Kimball Avenue. Featuring a dozen accomplished writers reading five-minute essays on the theme of love and marriage, the show will begin at 2:00 pm and conclude at 4:00 pm with a wine-and-cheese reception hosted by the Writing Institute. Seating is limited, but tickets can still be purchased for $12 through the events tab of the Read650.com website. The event will also be live-streamed at Facebook.com/read650 beginning at 2:00 pm. 

Sunday, October 16:  Two movie classics about the Kennedys, Primary and Crisis, will be shown at the Bronxville Public Library from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. The films will be introduced by the filmmakers' children, Allison Shuker Devlin and Thatcher Drew. Sunday, October 16:  Art expert Johanna Flaum of Sotheby's will speak about what is happening in the world of contemporary art from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at OSilas Gallery on the campus of Concordia College. A light lunch will be included, and there will be time for questions and answers. To purchase tickets, call 914-337-9300, ext. 2173. Tickets are $45 per person and $40 for gallery members. Space is limited.

Wednesday, October 19:  Jansen Hospice and Palliative Care will hold its annual fundraiser Better Than Cooking Dinner from 6:30 to 9:00 pm at the Bronxville Field Club. For more information, call Nadia Trimmer at 914-787-5001.

The School "offers all adults of Bronxville and surrounding communities the opportunity for personal growth through life enhancing skills and provides cultural, intellectual and recreational stimulation at a nominal cost."

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children.  All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
