Letter to the Editor: Lynn Joyce on Village Paddle Tennis Courts

Feb. 18, 2015:
To the Editor:
It is a crime that the Village of Bronxville cannot support the paddle tennis courts the way they should. All it takes is the trustees' support to make this a success.
It has been a constant battle trying to get their interest and support for those of us that have dedicated our volunteer time and effort for so many years. Volunteers have been expected to run this without any professional, financial, or village support!
It is shocking that there are no extracurricular activities offered in our affluent village. New families have never been invited or informed of paddle. What is the first question new families moving into the village ask? What recreational facilities does the village offer?
Every family in the village, including children, should be sent a notice from the village inviting them to join in and if they don't play, to come and learn the game! Has any resident received anything like this?
Has the school considered taking advantage of this facility for the kids as it does with tennis?
It is all about promoting your product!
Our village tennis program is the perfect example: Get a young, enthusiastic professional and make it happen! You have to spend it to make it!
