About Us

Who are we, and why are we doing this?

We are your neighbors, and there are enough of us for at least one of us to be the friend of at least one of you. Some of us grew up here, and most of us have had or still have children at the Bronxville School or St. Joseph’s.

We, like so many of you, have volunteered our time in the community and care about it deeply. And, like you, we want to know as much as we can about what is happening in our village--at Village Hall, at the schools, the Planning and Zoning Boards, the library, at places of worship, in the business district and the real estate market and what is currently engaging the service, cultural and political organizations here.

None of us may want to admit to remembering the original Bronxville Review-Press, which published weekly from 1937 to 1953. Others of us do remember the Review Press-Reporter, which published, also weekly, from 1953 to 2000.

Bronxville is part of the Town of Eastchester, but we, here, do miss the single focus on Bronxville community maintained by the two former weeklies and hope that myhometownBronxville.com will restore that focus for the internet age.

Our staff is headed by our president and publisher Sarah Thornton-Clifford, who grew up in Bronxville, is the mother of triplets and, after college at Princeton and earning a master’s degree at the Yale School of Management, spent 19 years at Time, Inc., rising to the position of New York advertising manager of Sports Illustrated.

Our vice-president and managing editor is former Bronxville Mayor Marcia M. Lee, who holds a doctorate from Tufts University in political science, which she taught at the college level as an assistant professor, before working in county and state government and serving as associate dean of Westchester Community College and director of its Office of Institutional Research and Planning. She has held an array of volunteer positions and been widely honored for her service.

Meredith Matthews, a graduate of Brown University and a Senior Editor at Weekly Reader, is our Associate Editor.  Jeannie Murrer and Susan Quinn De Joy are our sports reporters, and Neely Bower and Allaire Warner are our feature photographers.

But that‘s not all. A significant roster of local residents will be helping us keep you informed about the resources available in our village for students and seniors, parents and professional people, those in need of some kind of assistance and those who are looking for opportunities for providing it.

To achieve that, the following people have agreed to act as “program consultants” to help advise us on our “program pages” and keep them current:

Rene Atayan                                       Eloise Morgan
Beth Banbury                                      Jeannie Murrer

Our staff and other community members will also provide a community wide calendar listing community activities open to the public, and keep you up to date on restaurants, food and parties; weddings and engagements; vacations, day trips and getaways; and even the Metro North train schedule.

So here we are. We welcome you all to our virtual pages!
